Despite what many people may think, umpires are people too!  They have lives away from the whistle and flags, can usually see pretty well and actually know what they are doing - despite protestations to the contrary from certain players and fans.

Here is a run down of some of the people who choose to pull on the orange jersey and throw the ball in the air.  AFL Britain and everyone aho plays the game is extremely grateful to them - after all, without the umpires there would be no game.
