No, 5 July is not a bye weekend - Brit Cup is on the horizon and approaching fast! A tournament aimed at celebrating the ever increasing pool of talent developing outside of Australia, Brit Cup aims to bring the very best out of all of the non-Australian players in the country.
With it being International Cup year there will doubtless be many British-born players hoping to catch the eye of Bulldogs coach Charlie Kielty, who is busy preparing to take on the world in Melbourne in August. While the Bulldogs squad is becoming a fearsome and closely-knit unit there is always the chance that players could force themselves into the reckoning, and Brit Cup is the ideal place to do just that.
While many Australians see it as a chance to put their boots up for the weekend and slob out in front of the tv we would like to encourage as many people as possible to get down and support their teammates in this years tournament. Support can be the difference between defeat and victory, and there's nothing like the advice given out by seasoned players to help get that extra bit out of players and push them on to even greater heights.

Round 5 was certainly one with a few shock results in it,
and has blown the race for the Premiership minor flag wide open. Two incredibly tight matches saw the London
Swans picking up their first win and first points of the season against
Wimbledon 4.13 (37) 6.8 (44), while Putney pulled off arguably the shock of the
season so far by defeating defending champions West London by just four points,
6.8 (44) 7.6 (48).
The Conference saw something more approaching normal service
resume however, with the Shepherds Bush Raiders beating the Magpies 14.12 (96) 5.4
(34) to continue their 100% start to the season. Reading got revenge over the Swans after
their previous close defeat to run out 17 point winners with a 8.4 (52) 5.5
(35) victory.

|
Okay, everyone claims they've had them when in reality they
were probably just a bit sore after running without stretching or alternatively
hungover. That's right, hamstrings are
blamed for poor performance across the country, although a judicious rub of the
magic sponge usually works miracles.
However, if you really have pulled a hammie you could be in
a fair bit of trouble unless you look after it properly. With some advice taken from Physioroom.com,
here's our guide to what they are, how they happen and how to fix them.

Prevention and Management of Injuries

Australian Rules football is a very physical sport. Tackles are hard for both sides, games are played at an incredible pace and the season is long in terms of the effect on the human body. Whilst many of the injuries which occur are a result of specific match incidents, there are a number of injuries and problems which occur through regular exercise and as such are far more preventable than others. One of these problems is known as ‘Runners Knee’, a problem with the outer part of the knee which is fairly common amongst players. With a little help from physioroom.com here we take a quick look at what causes the problem, along with some ways of preventing or treating it.

Southern Region News

For those of you who have been following the fortunes of the
teams competing in the Southern England Region you will have noticed that the
last round saw two of the behemoths of the league go head to head when Sussex
hosted Southampton. The Swans were keen
to make up for last year's defeat at the hands of Bournemouth in the inaugural Grand
Final, while the Titans were focussing on maintaining their
excellent start to the season.
