The Southampton Titans won the 2008 Aussie Rules UK South Grand Final in convincing fashion on Saturday.
Facing the Sussex Swans, a team that the Titans had failed to challenge through their two regular season matches, and who knocked them out of the 2007 Semi-finals, the Titans entered the game as under-dogs. But a first quarter assault by the Titans, set the tone for the match, with the Titans kicking two goals in the first couple of minutes before captain Peter Stroud hobbled off the ground with a strained hamstring, not returning for the remainder of the match.

For those of you who have been following the fortunes of the
teams competing in the Southern England Region you will have noticed that the
last round saw two of the behemoths of the league go head to head when Sussex
hosted Southampton. The Swans were keen
to make up for last year's defeat at the hands of Bournemouth in the inaugural Grand
Final, while the Titans were focussing on maintaining their
excellent start to the season.

Four rounds into the ARUK Southern England Division
sponsored by Walkabout and the Sussex Swans are currently sitting in second
spot and looking good. At this early
stage in the year the Swans are hoping to maintain this early season form and
go one better than last time around, when they lost to the Titans (who
currently sit above them in first place) in a surprisingly one-sided Grand
Final.
