The London Social League is the third and youngest tier of competition in the London region. No player eligibility rules mean that any players at a club can play regardless of nationality, meeting a need expressed by some of the clubs in London which struggled in the past to manage very large player lists. In order to not be in a position where keen players are being turned away and not getting to play due to a lack of space in the Premiership and Conference teams the Social League was put together and introduced at the start of the 2007 season. The more relaxed eligibility rules resulted in a very high standard of football being played, as teams primarily (although not exclusively) consisted of Australian players. The atmosphere was also very positive, although matches were still keenly fought affairs. The inaugral season was won by the South London Demons, a team from the Wandsworth Demons club. This year a number of non-London sides have also been invited to compete in the league to ensure that as many clubs as possible around the country get the chance to play the full version of the game.
