Touch Aussie Rules - Grand Finals

The 2008 Touch Aussie Rules summer comp has concluded with some great matches at Clapham Common.

Run by Aussie Rules UK, Touch has been a big success in its four years in London. Played as a mixed competition, it allows those who are told old, slow or soft for full-contact Aussie Rules the opportunity to continue to play the world’s greatest game.

And it has allowed other nationalities living and working in the capital to experience Aussie Rules too. In addition to Aussie expats, players this year have come from the USA, Canada, France, South Africa, New Zealand and Poland.

Twelve teams were involved in the summer comp, with 6 teams playing on Wednesday nights and 6 teams playing on Thursday nights.

In the Wednesday night league, Free Pete 7.2 (44) defeated Maulers 1.0 (6) in the twilight grand final. Best on Ground was The Enforcer. Final Standings

In the Thursday night league, Touch Up finally won its first premiership in a thrilling match, defeating Team Dinga by just two points. Best on Ground was Pooch, who flew back from Italy to play in the Grand Final, arriving just in time to take the field.
