Most professional AFL players can kick the ball 45 to 50 metres (49 to 54 yards) but there are a few who can regularly kick 50+ metres.  Whilst kicking from this distance is not something most people can do naturally, there are a few things you can do to get every last centimetre out of a kick.

Firstly ensure that you are holding the ball correctly.  If you are holding the ball sideways you will lose a lot of power and will not be able to kick accurately over any sort of distance.

This video is a 60 metre (65 yard) goal by Carlton's Brendan Fevola. Despite Carlton coming last in 2006, Fevola was the competitions leading goal kicker winning the Coleman Medal with 84 for the season.
