internationalcup08.gifThe GB Bulldogs began their International Cup challenge with a bang, beating the Peace Team 20.15 (135) to 1.2 (8) at Ransford Oval.

The Peace Team, made up of Palestine and Israeli players, were competing in their first ever International Cup and did well to score the first IC goal in their history, but the Bulldogs were always going to prove too strong and powerful for their less experienced opponents.

internationalcup08.gifThe GB Bulldogs have touched down in Melbourne and are raring to go!  The team have begun their gruelling schedule of training and preparation in advance of their first match on Wednesday, against the Peace Team at 1.00pm, and from initial reports spirits are high and attitudes are focussed.

With a talented squad and a full season behind them there are big hopes for the team this year, although late withdrawals through injury of some key players could provide an extra challenge for Coach Charlie Kielty to overcome.  However, those who take to the pitch on Wednesday will no doubt do their country proud, and AFL Britain wishes them the best of starts to the AFL International Cup 2008!

west_london_wildcats.jpgDespite the best efforts of three seperate clubs from across the country, West London have been crowned triple champions after winnning the London Social,  Conference and Premiership divisions with victories over Nottingham Scorpions, Clapham Demons and Putney Magpies respectively.

In front of over a thousand spectators and under perfect skies the Wildcats in their various forms were just too strong for their opponents, despite being pushed very hard for their wins.  This was the first time they picked up the Social flag, the fifth consecutive Premiership crown and incredibly the eigth consecutive Conference title.  No doubt celebrations will continue for many days to come!

AFL London Grand Final this Saturday at Clapham Common! PDF Print E-mail

london_1.jpgLooking for a bit of exciting local Aussie Rules footy action, then why not get yourself down to the 2008 AFL London Grand Final this Saturday 16th August at Clapham Common.

The AFL London Grand Final is always a highlight on the London sporting calendar & weather permitting should attract a few thousand spectators.  The day will feature a guest appearances from sporting celebrities, a half time dash for cash, heaps of travel giveaways, and best of all the high flying Aussie Rules Grand Final Action!

The social final is on at 11am, conference game (Reserves) commences at 1pm & the Premiership (senior game) is at 3.30pm.
